TAC assisted the client in establishing a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting inventory , encompassing all three scopes as outlined by the GHG Protocol and developed a decarbonisation roadmap. TAC commenced with an introductory training program on carbon accounting . After which TAC conducted a thorough Scope 3 screening exercise to identify the most significant indirect emissions categories within the bank's portfolio and identified financed emissions as a key category. The team facilitated the collection of GHG emissions data across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 within the bank's operations. Utilising the gathered data, TAC established a clear baseline for the bank's total GHG emissions. The Recycling Facility is a pioneer in the region in providing waste solutions and engaged in waste recycling of electronic waste (E-waste) which leads to resource recovery of rare metals. As part of the assessment, Recycling Facility was audited to determine compliance of business operations with applicable national environmental regulatory requirements & business permits and to identify whether any potential environmental risks present. Home / Projects Projects EMMP project for the construction of housing development in Pasir Ris July 29, 2021 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was awarded an Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) project for the construction of housing development in Pasir Ris. The work mainly covers the development of a detailed construction EMMP framework during the pre-construction stage, outlining the mitigation and management measures to ensure that the proposed works do not adversely affect the environment around the project site. Additionally, TAC developed a Wildlife Management Plan to advise the Client on wildlife protection and encounter. Given that the project is located adjacent to an existing forested area, TAC will provide support for biodiversity monitoring throughout the construction period to ensure that the mitigation measures implemented are effective for the protection of biodiversity. Home / Projects Projects Biodiversity Screening of an Island Offshore of Sabah, Malaysia November 19, 2020 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting was commissioned to conduct a biodiversity screening of an island offshore the mainland of Sabah, Malaysia. While the land use history of the island has left much of the terrestrial vegetation in a degraded state, the coasts and waters around the island are teeming with various marine habitats and biodiversity that utilises these habitats. Our works begin with the desktop study and field survey of the existing biodiversity to better understand the island’s overall ecological importance in the regional context. From these data that we gather, we are then able to provide recommendations to our Client to safeguard marine habitats, restore and enhance terrestrial habitats, and contribute to sustainable, low-impact developmental plans on the island. Learn More Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) According to the Convention on Biological Diversity, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process of evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed project or development, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human-health impacts, both beneficial and adverse. At TAC, our team of multidisciplinary experts are well equipped to deliver comprehensive EIA services, including initial consultation with government agencies, scoping, baseline data collection, as well as impact identification, assessment, and mitigation. Our team is also experienced in stakeholder engagement consultations, which are often done as part of the EIA process. The EIA process also takes into account analysis of physical parameters such as airborne noise, ambient air quality, and ground vibration levels in order to assess the environmental impacts. By having an in-depth understanding of the proposed project and working closely with both the client and technical agencies, we aim to assist our clients in achieving sustainable development. Biodiversity Impact Assessment Through our team of in-house and partner specialists, we conduct biodiversity surveys, often as part of larger projects, including Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA), which may form part of an Environmental Impact Assessment. Wildlie & Ecological Services Wildlife & Ecological Services Fauna Surveys Fauna surveys are conducted to identify and record species from various taxonomic groups. We use a range of different standard methods and technology, including visual transect surveys, camera trapping, bat acoustic surveys, and hand netting and trapping of invertebrates, depending on the needs of the project. The results of these surveys may be utilized for analysis in biodiversity screening assessments, biodiversity impact assessments, and other relevant studies. Wildlife Management Plans Wildlife Management Plans are devised for upcoming developments to minimise the risk of wildlife mortality and injury, while also reducing the risk of human-wildlife conflict incidents. Through an understanding of a project site’s baseline conditions, and the identification of target species found within and around the site, our team will develop wildlife management plans. Such plans are often included as part of the client’s Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) and may include aspects such as plans for directional clearance of trees, pre-felling fauna inspections, and wildlife response and rescue protocols. Wildlife Management Plans Anchor 1 Habitat Restoration Advisory Habitat restoration involves rehabilitating or enhancing degraded habitats to increase the biodiversity or ecological function of a site. Our team’s practical experience and ecological knowledge allow us to help our clients devise a habitat restoration strategy, including setting objectives and goals, recommending planting palettes, and devising monitoring parameters for a proposed habitat restoration project. EMMP Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) TAC works closely with clients and contractors through their pre-construction, construction, and operation phase, to ensure that their activities comply with existing legislation and environmental protection guidelines. An EMMP is a systematic approach to mitigate negative environmental impacts and monitor the implementation of these mitigation measures. It is a useful tool to assess whether the mitigation measures taken are effective to reduce or mitigate potential impacts caused by this project to minimal and acceptable levels during the construction phase. With the rate of development, both in Singapore and the region, it is crucial to ensure that the impacts of development on the natural environment are reduced. Our EMMPs include relevant aspects of environmental protection such as Wildlife Management Plans, Flora Management Plans, Lighting Management Plans, and other related plans. This will help our clients develop in an environmentally-sensitive manner. Arboriculture and Habitat Enhancement Services Arrow Arrow Trees, which are often integral in biophilic design, provide a range of amenities including shade, air purification, temperature regulation, and habitats for biodiversity. Trees are also sometimes retained due to their conservation or cultural significance. However, it is vital to ensure that the safety and integrity of trees in development sites are not compromised. Should structural instabilities go undetected, these trees may pose hazards in the future. Our team of certified arboriculture consultants are trained in tree health inspection, assessing construction impacts on trees, tree risk assessment and mitigation, and soil inspection. This engagement marked our first venture into the education sector, and we embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and dedication. Upon understanding the unique needs of our Client, we initiated the project by providing a comprehensive sustainability training session to our Client. This training was designed to foster a common understanding and language, ensuring smooth collaboration throughout the reporting process. We meticulously followed SGX recommendations and the GRI standards 2021, providing a robust framework for the sustainability report. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of both teams (Tembusu Asia and Client), we successfully delivered the Client’s sustainability report, fully compliant with local guidelines. Home / Projects Projects Carbon Verification & Carbon Neutrality Advisory services for a digital payment tokens (DPT) trading exchange September 3, 2021 All Projects, Carbon & Sustainability TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to provide Carbon Verification and Carbon Neutrality Advisory services for a digital payment tokens (DPT) trading exchange based in Singapore. Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) suggests limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius to mitigate climate change. To achieve this threshold, carbon neutrality by the mid-21st century is essential. While large organizations are urged to transform their business to become net-zero, it is impressive to see an SME voluntarily demonstrates its commitment to climate actions. The scope of work included reviewing and verifying carbon inventory prepared by the client. TAC provided advisory service guiding the client through the challenges of meeting requirements set out in the Carbon Neutrality Standards, PAS 2060. Home / Projects Projects Biodiversity Impact Assessment (BIA) in Punggol North August 26, 2020 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting was awarded a contract to conduct Biodiversity Impact Assessment (BIA) in future residential development area in Punggol North. The scope of the BIA included conducting baseline flora and fauna surveys, assessing likely impacts from project activities, and recommending general mitigation measures to address these impacts. Through an understanding of the environmental conditions of the site and the flora and fauna species present around the proposed development, habitat enhancement strategies to attract native biodiversity to green spaces within the development were also recommended. More than 80% of world’s leading reporters use GRI Standards as the framework for developing their sustainability reports owing to modular and inter-related structure, and step-by-step guidance on communicating sustainability performance. The updated GRI Universal Standards 2021 requires all organizations using the GRI Standards to report in line with intergovernmental expectations on due diligence for human rights. Home / Projects Projects Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for an industrial development in north-western Singapore May 6, 2021 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting was commissioned to conduct an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for the land clearance of an industrial development in north-western Singapore. The scope of this EIS includes a biodiversity study to establish the ecological baseline of the project site, an assessment of the impacts of land clearance on the environment, and the recommendation of appropriate measures to mitigate these impacts. TEMBUSU Asia will also conduct biodiversity awareness training to brief key personnel on biodiversity issues pertaining to the project, including species found at the project site, the importance of biodiversity conservation, and ways to avoid human-wildlife conflict. We believe that by working with and providing sound recommendations to the Client, we will be able to help minimise adverse impacts on the surrounding natural environment for the duration of this project. Home / Projects Projects Multi-disciplinary Consultancy Services for Enhancement of Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat May 5, 2022 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was awarded the environmental consultancy works for the enhancement of Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat. Following the completion of feasibility studies in 2020, TAC is glad to continue the work for the detailed design and construction of the proposed nature park as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Baseline data collected from various environmental surveys we conducted would aid in understanding potential impacts of the development on the biodiversity and ecology, hydrodynamic condition, and other relevant environmental aspects. TAC would advise the multi-disciplinary team on mitigation measures to minimize impacts from the development. Stakeholder consultations would be carried out during the EIA process to incorporate feedback from relevant stakeholders. TAC will also supervise the EMMP implementation for both construction and post-construction stages. Home / Projects Projects Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) Advisory for Air-Conditioning Solutions Provider in Singapore December 20, 2021 All Projects, Carbon & Sustainability TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) has been engaged by an air conditioning solutions provider to provide advisory services in fulfilling NEA’s Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) requirements. The regulation requires affected companies to report their primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging which have been put into the Singapore market. This will help to lay the foundation for Singapore’s transition towards an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for packaging waste management by 2025. TAC will assist the Client in understanding reporting requirements, provide a method of collecting and presenting packaging data, recommend strategies and solutions in creating a packaging 3R plan, and meet NEA submission requirements. This project showcases TAC’s efforts in assisting businesses in transitioning towards circular economy, thus establishing a zero-waste nation in Singapore and fulfilling UN SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production.
