MEASUREMENT & VERIFICATION (M&V) PLAN REVIEW FOR INDUSTRIAL PLANT
We are engaged for a review and endorsement of the Measurement & Verification (M&V) Plan prepared as part of energy efficiency measures for an industrial plant owned by a Petrochemical giant in Singapore.
As part of energy efficiency drive, The client has identified an opportunity for the hydrogenation (hydro) unit of the Singapore Oxo-alcohol plant (SPA) to introduce process heat integration capability, with the accompanying benefit of abatement of carbon emissions. The project will install a new shell and tube exchanger to facilitate the heat transfer between the cold feed flowing into the preheaters and hot effluent flowing out into the cooler. This will improve the heat integration between cold feed and hot effluent within the Hydro-unit and will reduce steam import for this operation. The reduction in the steam demand will reduce natural gas consumption and will lead to the abatement of carbon emissions associated with steam consumption. For M&V, the measurements on flow meters will be used to determine the steam savings, which will in turn provide the basis to verify energy savings and the carbon abatement generated by the project. As part of our scope, we reviewed and endorsed the M&V Plan proposed by the Client. The endorsement is carried out by a Professional Engineer (Mechanical).
